spitters are quitters.
It’s me, your toxic food blogger who says they are going to change but never does.
2020 is different 🙂
Happy New Year and thanks for the constant support.
By now, you’ve probably heard of Hello Fresh. Whether it be on the sponsored ads or your favorite Influencer promoting it. It’s everywhere. If you somehow escaped the ads, let me tell you about it…
Hello Fresh is a weekly subscription box that carries a variety of meals. It is pretty customizable in the sense you can choose how many meals and how many servings. I opted in for the basic plan which is three meals that serve two people a week. I live alone in San Francisco so this is more than enough food for me. Each meal is put in a bag with the right amount of each ingredient. Pretty self-explanatory. Go online, pick your meals, cook/learn more dishes, rinse and repeat. Simple enough.
I am not an influencer. Not even in the slightest. I paid for these meals and in no way is Hello Fresh paying me… BUT if you’re reading this Hello Fresh :). My opinions are my own.
Recently I decided to try Hello Fresh. My decision was based on a mixture of a friend who seemed to like it, Hilary Duff promoting it, and I got a coupon in the mail that I simply couldn’t refuse. Living alone in San Francisco has been an adjustment. Admittedly, most of my meals have been grilled cheese with tomato soup or dumplings. I haven’t really been able to stock up my fridge and cooking for one has been harder than I thought. The coupon I received was for 4 weeks for $20 each. If I ended up hating it, I could easily cancel. Plus, what is $20? I’ve paid for single meals that I’ve hated for more. If I at least liked one, I would get my money’s worth.
The process was simple. I chose my three meals for the week and the time I wanted it to be delivered. Using their website was fairly easy and I appreciated being able to choose the date and time I would like my packages. Even though it hasn’t happened yet, I am still terrified of someone stealing one of my deliveries. (knock on wood)Â
I chose my delievers for Friday’s since I work remote. Well, I am dumb and forgot that I was going to be out of town on Friday for a conference. The Hello Fresh guy called me and I politely asked him to press every button to hopefully ring a neighbor to bring my meals in. (sorry fellow neighbors)Â Luckily for me, when I came back later that evening my package was waiting for me. Even though it was delivered hours before I got back home, they have insulation and cooling packs to keep it nice and fresh.
In the next couple of weeks, I will be reviewing these meals to let you know if they are worth your time and money.
Just a little background on my cooking skills… I’d like to consider myself a good cook. I know how to cook a variety of cuisines. I took a FAB 159 which is cooking fundamentals. Not too sure why I scheduled my class for 7am on Fridays but 🙂 survived and got an A. My skills aren’t AMAZING but I know how to season.
If you have tried HelloFresh boxes before and would like to tell me which suck and which to try, PLEASE DO. You can DM me on Instagram at @sheswallowsblog or email me at sheswallowsblog@gmail.com.
Thank you :)<3
