Lo-Lo’s Chicken and Waffles | Las Vegas, Nevada
Why do chicken and waffles make such a great dish? Its something about the sweet and salty combination that keeps me coming back for more. My expectations were high when my friend and I visited the infamous Lo-Lo’s Chicken and Waffles. I’ve seen them on multiple foodie’s Instagram posts so I was eager to try. They literally have “chicken and waffles” in their name, so they better be the best I’ve ever had.
Oh, how I wish they were better. Overall atmosphere of the restaurant was great. Very spacious, they have a nice bar area, and tons of natural lighting. Everything else kind of fell short.
Although we were seated immediately, our server took awhile to take our drink order. ALSO, the establishment was not that busy. Working in food and beverage, I understand how it is when it gets busy. But for this dining experience, they were not busy. By the time our waitress came for our drink orders we were already ready to order our meals. She returns back with two cups, which I thought were normal sized. Our waitress apologized for the small size and promised to return with bigger glasses. Spoiler alert, those bigger glasses never came and neither did a refill. After our meals came out, we didn’t see our waitress for awhile.
As for the overall meal, it was okay. It wasn’t the best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had. I’m sure there is worse out there, somewhere. The waffles were lack luster other than the hint of cinnamon. They were more soggy than firm. I don’t know about you, but I don’t enjoy soggy waffles. Even though the waffle wasn’t the best, the chicken was the savior. Chicken was juicy, crispy, and nicely seasoned. Lo-Lo’s has their own hot sauce that complimented the chicken quite well.
Just the service was so bad. I saw her walking around to all her other tables except for ours. It was frustrating grabbing someone for get our bill when I physically saw her tend to all her other tables.
I would go back again to give it a second chance. But for now, it didn’t live up to the hype.
